For years now I have taken a deep and special joy in the knowledge of Our Lords special love for us all. Knowing that there is a wise, loving and all knowing deity who loves each of us personally as his children has gotten me through some very tough times but recently I've started to worry. All of us accept that it is through accepting Jesus into our hearts as our personal Saviour is the path into the kingdom of heaven and, like most of you, I have worked hard to get friends and family to join me in my faith; but what if I was wrong?
Is it arrogant of us to believe that only we have correctly understood the bible and that only OUR personal understanding of the messages therein out of all the holy works written over the course of human history are accurate or are we, by the very strength of our convictions, actually defying the almighty? I'm desperately concerned that instead of portraying Him as a wise and loving creator our attempts to convert people actually portray Him as a petty jobsworth bureaucrat who will leave good and godly people standing for eternity outside the gates of heaven just because they were members of the wrong religion. If He is, as I believe, truly such a wise and loving creator surely what concerns Him is how we live our lives and not which knee we bend before which altar or what Name we know him by. After all there is only one God - why should he care whther I know him through the teachings of Christ or Mohammed or even through the Gods of older religions like the Norse or the Greeks; Surely my actions will count for more than my words when I die and am judged?
